Has anyone put just air shocks on their bike without putting a air pump or tank on with it? These are air shocks and they are suppose to be setup on the bike like the Harley OEM shocks, but these shocks just use air not like the other shocks oil and air. Just put the required air for your weight and off you go. Pro's and Con's Appreciated
My buddy has them on his bike. There are Monroe shocks for a car. They work ok. His is hooked up to a compressor so he can lower his bike when it parked.
The Harley air shocks do no lower the bike with air. This will.
PS just changed a shock because the bladder went bad and started bottoming out. 1 year on them....
again... PROGRESSIVE SUSPENSION .... front and rear.
The MoFoCo has been using sh*t suspension for years.... SHOWA crap.
Air shocks IMHO have always been crap, on cars or bikes.
The SPRING carries the weight, the shock ABSORBER dampens the oscillation of the spring.
When I know I am going to ride 2 up, I add a couple of turns to the spring collars and I am good to go, when I am 1 up I get to set the spring ( read up on sag) so the bike handles right for the weight.
And I have never seen a coil over fail.
If you or your mechanic have a clue, when they do the front end they set the springs up (spacers) for the weight you calculate.
Some of us ( raising hand) are a lot bigger than the "average" rider that the suspension was set up for, so you add weight to an already crappy setup and it does not make for a fun ride.
The best money I spent on my 03 was on suspension upgrades. At some point I will do my 13 now that it is my primary bagger ( the 03 now lives at the Florida house) I have always said I wish I could have my Stage 4 103 in my 03 frame as the 03 can outrun the 13 on curvy roads
2012 Ultra Limited...I replaced my air shocks with the Premium Hand Adjust shocks. They were new bike take-offs from a 2017 Ultra Limited ($250 on eBay). Big difference in the ride and the fact that they stay adjusted; they're are not affected by weather, or change of altitude. Easy change out too.
The only thing you have to make sure of is they are the right length you want. I wanted a stock ride, so I went with 13" (center of eyelet to center of eyelet). There are of lot of these for sale on eBay that are take-offs from a Street Glide, or other models, that are 12".
