IF you choose a bag that doesn't have a rigid bottom I'd suggest that you consider insert some heavy cardboard (or plastic) in the bottom of the bag for support.
Another option that I did (after some paint buffing on the t/p lid) was to use bungee cords interlaced through the t/p luggage rack and under the bag to prevent the bag from "drooping down" and damaging your paint.

With most textile bags, it's a smart idea to use a heavy garbage as a water-proof liner so you'll have dry clothes when you get to your destination.

Also, if you're tight for space. you may want to consider packing your leathers in another heavy garbage and bungee cording them on top of your luggage bag and topping it off with your rain gear under a bungee cargo net.

I think the load limit for a t/p lid is 10-15 pounds but I've loaded them to at least twice that amount (if not more), however, some of the older ('99-00 era) tour pack mounting racks were very susceptible to failing due to the improper manufacturing process.
I also had to replace the lid hinges due to wear but that was after many miles of use. IF you ever replace the lid hinges, IMO going with the "Premium" hinges is a good idea.

I purchased this rack bag last summer passing through Sturgis while on a 14 day road trip. Held quite a bit, water resistant, and easy off/on. It was was great for dirty clothes and wet swim wear. Smart purchase. I'd buy it again. Mounted on trunk lid rack of 16 FLHTK Limted.

I have the Harley collapsible bag and it has served me well for 3 summers so far. It's easy to put on and take off the bike with the velcro straps.

I

We use the soft HD bag as some have sown you with a net....the net comes in very handy when we don't want to use our helmets, we slip them in between the bag and the netting.....also the netting keeps the bag away from the paint job.....best bag to this day....
also we tend to use vacuum bags to store our clothes in the bag, thus not needing anything that is stiff on the bottom of the bag....

I have a HD nylon mini-duffel. The Velcro straps hold it tight to the luggage rack atop the king-pac! It has proven ideal for stowing wet-weather-gear, x2. The large zippered opening allows easy access and stowage when the equipment is sopping wet.

The last thing u want on long hauls is a 'dirty' secure for your kit. U might have seen bikers with bungee, home made, garbage bags and all other mother of inventions to contain their haulage? Something like an Ultra, with proper planning, will provide adequate storage for (2) people and do it in a 'clean' configuration. At 70-75 mph you don't want wind noise or securing concerns - keep it all in the hard bags and king-pac!

Edit: Roll ur daily-issue kit (underwear, socks, etc) and stand it upright in the hard bags. Surprising how much you can pack (x2)

Ok-Everyone accuses me of being a sarcastic brazen arsehole here...
And perhaps they are right, Idk
But i want to say as gently as posable with no malice.
No sarcasm.
I traveled for years with just saddlebags,
I have no clue why you would need so much cubic space for two people
Now that a woman has come in the picture I did add the trunk
On long trips, I carry 1 extra gallon gas, enough tools to bust it dwn past the inner primary, and a few other spares.
She gets most the trunk and one whole saddle bag I get about a little bit of the trunk and whats left in the other bag.
As far as cloths-
The rain suit is up under dash for faster deployment.
Leathers are on
All I need is a couple sets of jeans, couple shirts, socks, and shower stuff.
At night in the hotel, I usually wash out something in the sink.
Now you may not be able to do as simple as Me, but my point is perhaps
there are ways you can lighten up rather than getting more hvy with stuff, in my opinion, you will never use.
Dont take this as a bash....I can't afford another spike from a mod LOL

When I travel alone my 'needs' too are minimal.

Women? Happy wife (or significant other), happy life. (more sex).
