Default Tour pack luggage rack bag

Man thats a mouthful to say all at once....lol

Anywayyyyy.....going on a long road trip with the wife this coming summer so will need some extra storage.

Can anyone give some advice on which works best without making the Ultra feel top heavy (ier....lol) or a big wind catcher.

thanks

The only one I've used, with great success, is an original H-D one. Mine is pretty old now and the latest ones are different, also I don't have any experience of them. We use ours mostly for carrying spare riding gear, and can squash it almost flat when there is little in it (with luggage ties/elastics). We only ever use it 2-up on long trips and any added weight or drag hasn't been noticeable, but when fully loaded we're close to the GVWL of our bike, so we're not short of stability!

I have the collapsible bag shown below. It’s expandable and works very well. My wife and I went to Laconia June 2017 and I had no issues with the bag making the bike feel more top heavy. I think as long as you pack a resonable amount of things in the bag you will not have an issue. I actually put my bike cover on top of the bag and put a net over everything. Overall very happy with it. Didn’t have to use the rain cover so I can’t speak to how it works.
Good Luck and enjoy your trip

Pretty much the same here ... one of the older collapsible bags with the straps that attach it to the tour-pack rack ( I always added bungee chord ... no I don't wear suspenders and a belt ) for peace of mind :>)

Somewhat similar to mine, although there is never any spare room to put it inside our Tourpak! When in use it lives on the rack.

Can't help with the bag choice, but think about these:
Water proof.
If it doesn't have a ridged bottom add something stiff to the bottom to keep it from scratching the Tour Pack.

Yep ... rigid bottom is nice ... Mine is totally collapsible with a rigid bottom so it can be put in the bottom of the Tour Pack when not in use ... the part number is worn off of mine :<(

i used this one last year. Got the large one. Fit great and worked great. Only downfall was once at Sturgis I had a gal cut the straps down and sew them up to look factory. Not a big deal but it was better than using zip ties to secure excess strap material on the clips to attach to the luggage rack. Does not need a separate rain cover and was also able to use a cargo net to hold misc things when I over pack or over buy. I would buy it again.

I went with Stormtech's 35-liter bag because it fits the width of the tour pack rack. It has a cover over the zippers to help stop water penetration. They have bigger sizes and various colors. They also make a roller version which is nice.

I've found the HD ones can soak up water like sponges and allow water penetration through the zippers. So their stuff either comes with a rain bag or they will sell you one. Okay, so I can buy duffles at the Dollar Store and put a black plastic bag over it. Looks white trash to me. Aftermarket stuff tends to be a cheaper price without the accompanying HD logo. My Stormtech was approx. $50. But there are lots of good choices out there, so make sure to get one that is NOT leather & has cover flaps over the zippers. And you can use my photo to see how big a 35-liter bag is when shopping. Good luck!
