Because its an expensive gimmick that wouldn't sell new bikes. Welcome to the forums.
I dis agree, I adjust my windshield several time while riding the goldwing, depending on conditions 2 lane or 4 lane roads and speed I am riding. It would be great to be able to do that on my Harley. Instead I have 3 different windshields and use my best guess on which one I might need for the kind of riding I am doing.
Last summer I put on a windshield from Madstad, madsrad.com . I have over 5,000 mile with it.
It can be manually adjusted depending on rider desire. I put it taller for an extended interstate run and lower for in town. It can also pivot forward and backward to adjust wind flow.
If I want wind in my face, I just sit up higher in the saddle. I rode Indians a few years back (belonged to a friend) with the adjustable windshield. I saw no advantage to moving it up or down. My SGS has an oem 10” clear windscreen and it’s perfect for me.
Can you imagine the the people posting and complaining about the windshield motor going bad and a three week dealer backlog to get it replaced. And you know the price would go up couple thousand
dollars on MSRP.
Pretty Happy with adjustable windshield on my Chieftain and use it quite often, Almost 2 Years old now and 19,000 Miles with No Problems .. If price the Indian Springfield then the Chieftain don't really see where it's that much an expensive option when add everything else that comes having a Fairing Ride ..
That's what I thought too - until I owned a bike with an electric windshield.
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I totally agree. I had one on my ST1300. It came in real handy when cruising along the beach at 95 degrees and 20 mph. It was nice to lower it and get some breeze in my face. Then when I hit the Interstate to go back home, I raised it up to get rid of the wind buffeting. If you don't have one on your bike, you don't know what you're missing.
By the way, I didn't have any breakdowns with it either. Do you worry about the electric windows in your car/SUV/truck not working everytime you drive it? Or do you pay extra to get "roll down" windows?
It's absurd to worry about that as an excuse for Harley to not have it on Fairing bikes.
