Default 2000 Electra glide

I'm on edge about buying a 2000 electra glide from the dealership. The lining of the tank is coming off. Which means the fuel pump is definitely clogged. What other problems am I about to run into. Worst case scenario.

Many will tell you that the MM fuel injection system is crap, but I haven't had any trouble with mine other than a fuel pump replacement at 35k miles. The pump and filter is still available should you need it.

The other issue to be wary of is the cam chain shoes.

Will the dealer take care of the tank?

If the price is right, and you can do the work yourself, go for it. If you are not into turning wrenches, it's likely best to move on to a newer bike.

For extra on the price tag. I'm confident I can do the job myself and just take the tank to a machine shop or something but it's just not in my best financial interest to let the dealership deal with it. I just want to know worst case scenario

yeah I'm comfortable doing the work but the only injectors I can find is 2001-2005. Does it still work for the 2000? If you know the exact parts I'm gonna need a list would be greatly appreciated.

does it run?
how bad is it peeling? mine has slight peeling but not a problem.
why do u think it needs injectors? filter should catch anything well before it gets to the injectors. may need filter or clean filter. [ injectors changed in 02 to Delphi system]
cam shoes should be inspected.
what is the price? if it is a good buy I would not hesitate.
good luck

As a former owner of a 2000 Electraglide, I'd advise taking a pass. Fuel injection related items will become increasingly difficult to find; some are nearly impossible now. Before I totalled mine, I was seriously considering converting it to a carb. And has been said, the cam chain tensioner shoes will need inspection and monitoring.
IMHO, there are just too many good bikes out there right now to justify taking a chance on anything the least bit iffy.

The fuel pump is weak so thats why it doesn't want to run. it turns over just fine. My thoughts are to replace the pump, fuel filter, pressure reg. and with the tank I was thinking acetone.. what are your thoughts am I missing anything?
