Bikes easier at slow speed without it but if you know how to feather a clutch and drag a brake it’s not an issue. I have it on all the time for convenience and big lunch box fits good.

Yes, removing all that weight up and behind the axle should be noticed. But I leave my trunk on because it doesn't make enough difference in handling for me. And I scrap too frequetly.

Your choice..

All good replies--both pro and con or neutral. Where I live, security for helmet and such when stopped is not much of an issue. I suppose those of you who live among criminals understandably have different priorities. Regardless, I have both a Harley security system and a 9mm in my Langlitz jacket. Stealing **** from me is not a wise idea.

Thank you.

I certianlly notice when I take the tour pack off. Its not like it transforms it into a whole new motorcycle, but you can tell it's gone. That being said, the bikes handeling characteristics play zero part in my decision to run it. If I need the storage, I put it on. If I think it will be a while till I need the extra space, I remove it. That's why its got quick detach hardware.

It might just be me but on Road King’s it seems to make the bike visually go from x-large touring bike to a cruiser.

Glides don’t seem to shrink as much without the Pak? I guess it’s something about the fairings?

... or I’m just weird like that

I have a 2012 Road Glide and when I removed the tour pack it felt like a different bike but in a good way! Much lighter and handles much better!

IMHO you may well notice a difference initially, but that will quickly fade, same when you refit it. It's weight, as a proportion of the total weight of the bike, is really very little. Cross-winds are likely to affect the ride, but even that will soon become second nature. Ride on and enjoy, whatever configuration you use!
