Default Help with Primary Chaincase lube

Changing 06 FLHTCUI Pri oil or lube with bike on stand, put in 32 ozs as book states but still cant see oil level at the spring area or level with the spring. Does the Pri-chaincase lube whole more than 32 ozs. Using Mobile1 15W50 oil its great oil.

use a flash light, and a paper clip spread open you should be able to see it, but it is a pain in the ****..........i would make sure this way before adding anymore, you do not want to much in there.

I just put in the 32 oz. that the book calls for. I shined a flashlight down in there the first time I changed, and 32 oz. looked to be just about right for as well as could see. The case will hold more than 32 oz., but it is probably going to effect your clutch if you put more in.

Regards,

Bill

That's what I did, I never looked inside. After 4,500 miles, so far so good.

Over filling the primary is the worst thing you can do, so don't. It will cause poor shifting and short clutch life. It is very hard to see if at all, that it is level with the spring. So you just have to add the amount called for and trust. Also not a thread starter but 10w40 is a good primary oil weight.
