The older air shocks that they had 2003 -2007 where nice and smooth. The new ones just plain suck!

You may be right when comparing factory ProAction to factory Ohlins. But are your ProAction shocks customized based on your bike, riding style, weight (you and cargo)? Mine are.

Do you have experience with both shocks?

My 2-2bs were "CUSTOMIZED" to for all that weight, type of riding, % of time doing this, and % of time doing that, and they still SUCKED for the money spent on them. They were NO better than the H-D adjustable.

For me the Upgrade came 10 years and 95000 miles too late because of budget and complacency...My bike now handles like it should. MOCO should indeed be using a product like Ohlins or Pro Action on these bikes...Maybe they will wise up one day but it will surely come at a cost.

Those are the 'entry level' Ohlins, there are two higher grades available as options.

My Buell XB12R Firebolt has fully adjustable suspension front and rear, as had my FXDXT T-Sport from 2003, so H-D knows how to do this properly, but plainly chooses not to do so. At the very least their CVO models should come stock with the equivalent of Ohlins' top-shelf suspension IMHO.
+1 on Ohlin's rear suspension. I'd have to say, fully loaded, 2-up, tour-pak and luggage, we are at or just over 500lbs of weight total. The Ohlin's are completely smooth and we never bottom out. I'm in south Louisiana and everyone knows the stereotype about the roads here.

The Ohlin's on the rear have really shown how bad the front suspension is in comparison as well. While I feel almost every bump through the handlebars, the rear is completely smooth and planted. We are VERY happy with the Ohlin's.

Next step? Ohlins fork cartridges! It's a well trodden path - been there, done that....

Yep, I'll end up dropping cartridges in there at some point. For now, I need to hear my radio at highway speeds. That should be the next thread
