Windshield size
I’ve got a 02 roadking, has the batwing on it, I’m looking to get a new wiendshield for it cause old one is scratched up. This was all on the bike when I bought it. I messured and it’s about 10 inches. When riding relax my nose hits the top of the windshield. I’m wondering if I can go like 4 or 6 inch and not have a lot of wind in in my face. I also have the bags on the screen and would like to keep them as well. I just like to make the bike look better but still function. I’ve seen some on eBay from 17 bucks to 200 buck. Any info would be great thanks.

A recurve is worth a couple of inches in overall height. My required height is 11", but with the LRS recurve, I'm using a 9" with the same or better coverage. One thing I would caution you about is, that if you do any night riding, the tinted ones make it more difficult to see the road directly in front of you. (The darker the tint, the greater the difficulty.) I hope this helped; nice bike and ride safe.

There's not a simple answer to your question, as we each have different comfort zones, also local conditions come into it. A hot dry breeze every time we ride is a very different riding experience compared to riding in the cold and with driving rain - straight into our face!
kokemill gives great advice at post #2, especially if you go with a similar style of shield to your current one. I've been riding behind shields and fairings for over 50 years and am very sceptical of claims that some brands can perform miracles - the wind is a fickle thing in my experience and unpredictable!

It has been at least 10 years since I first discovered the recurve advantages on bikes, Road King in particular. It is not a life changing experience but does make quite a big difference. I still have and use that first LRS but have been through a number of others on other bikes. Looking over a shield just comes natural.

I just put a 7” basic screen by Fast Aire on and am amazed by how much improvement there is.
70 mph this morning on the way to work and relatively no wind in face, just a nice breeze.
Time will tell but I am ordering an 8” also as they are on sale until stock runs out because the owner is retiring.

My new SGS batwing fairing came stock with a 5" tinted shield. This shield allows a lot of wind to hit the helmet causing a lot of helmet buffeting especially with my half helmet.
I'm used to a recurve that I have on my Heritage which flips the air up and over the helmet so I get vitualy no helment buffeting. So, I just ordered an 8" Freedon Recurve which should do the same thing. for the SGS.
Eventhough I will still be able to look over the shield I opted to get a clear shield so I will be able to see the road in front of the bike easier when needed.
I feel the extra cost of a recurve is really worth it.
Edit: FWIW, I'm only discussing helmet buffeting from wind as a result of bike meovement through the air. A recurve windshield does an amazing job keeping the air off the helmet. However, nothing I know of can help crosswind buffeting.
