Well for starts I wanted to verify this vin as I just dropped a deposit on this bike. But now I want to search and see if there is any site, like a Carfax site for motorcycles. For example my Carfax on my truck gave me original destination, and open recalls, and I could track ownership change. That is my next challenge.
Thank you for the link, I was able to verify the vin!
You could go on the NHTSA website and look for a recall.
You are saying the VIN is invalid? VIN's for the last 40 years or more have been 17 digits and are easily decoded.
You want the VIN on the frame neck to match the title, and if you have a good insurance agent they may be able to run the VIN and see of any history of prior losses pops up.candidate
Hell you can enter your VIN on any one of a dozen HD dealers website as a parts search candidate and it will decode it.
It cost me less than $10 to run a title history report on the VIN when I bought my project Ultra Annie last April...I am thinking it was $7.50 for one report. A quick search will turn up several good services. Don't give up so easy!
Thanks for that info: I think it was my sorry butt that reversed the last 2 numbers of the vin, but thought that should not make a difference because those are just sequence numbers.
Did not know about the parts search on dealer web sites. Thanks!
