Yeah I think the Android play is probably a couple more years away. I charge my phone in the tour pack also......USB doesn't need to be HOT in my opinion. Phone battery has been fine during the short periods that the bike is not ON while phone is in trunk. If the USB was hot you could drain your bike battery dead.
I'm still hoping for a GTS update that will offer Android Auto. If that day comes, and if it rises to my expectations, I'm gonna add a usb splitter from the faring and run it into the tourpack. Another mod that is on my list is to have the power port in the tourpack wired and fused "always hot". I use it to charge my phone and it would sure be nice...
I tried using a USB hub to split the USB and Apple's CarPlay didn't work. The GTS still "saw" the iPhone's media as well as a thumb drive at the same time which was playable on the GTS's media player however CarPlay would not activate when connected through the hub. Hopefully Android Auto isn't plagued with this limitation. It would be a nice feature if they implemented wifi into the GTS in the future which would allow CarPlay to work wirelessly, then there would be no need to run the extra cable.

Maybe I want access to these features but I don't want my phone hanging off of an ugly mount on the bike with a usb cable flopping in the wind. Again, just MHO.
I was actually pleasantly surprised at the roads the ride planner picks when set to a scenic route. Most of the mainstream map apps would bypass the best roads or required additional hoops to jump through when I was planning a long route. Most apps will find you the fastest route, not what I want when on a tour.

Need some advice. I have used the HD Ride Planner quite a few times without many issues. I’d plan a ride on my Windows laptop, save it to a flash drive, then install it in my 2017 Ultra Limited.
My Windows computer died and I replaced it with an Apple iPad Pro. I can create the ride map on the iPad, but cannot download the GPX file to the flash drive. I have the accessories necessary to load things onto a flash drive, and have a new flash drive that supports Windows and Apple products. An hour on the phone with Apple support did not solve the problem.
Anyone else have this issue? How did you solve it?

Thanks.
Does the flash drive have a lightning connector on it and does it specifically state it will work with iOS? Not all thumb drives with lightning connectors will work directly with the iPad's file system and may require the manufacturers app.
I have a Verbatim thumb drive with a USB and lighting connector although I no longer use this method. The iOS Files app does not recognize the drive itself. I had to use the Verbatim Store n Go app to access the drive. The GPX file was stored to the Files app through Safari where I could copy it to the "On My Phone/Store n Go" folder using the Files app. Once it was copied to the Store n Go Folder I had to open the SnG app to move it to the thumb drive. But since Harley allowed us Canadians to download and use the Ride Planner app I can send routes directly to the GTS Nav on the bike now.
All my parts and bits connect properly and the thumb drive works with iOS. After a great deal of futzing and frustration I was able to download a gpx file to the Files area, then after many attempts move it to the flash drive, and then after several false starts onto the Boom GPS. I’m going to ride the route tomorrow to verify that it was a complete, error-free installation.
That was my experience too. One time it works flawlessly, next you fight tooth and nail to make it work. The thumb drive I used will only work reliably when I take the iPhone out of it's case. The connector is too short. That's why I was very happy when Apple or Harley allowed us Canadians to use the iOS Ride Planner app which work great with the GTS Boom.
I cant send routes thru app H-D on my IPhone 14 pro
Hi all,
I tried to send a route from app H-D on my IPhone 14 pro to my Boom! Box GTS installed o my Ultra Limited 2023. But after connect thru Bluetooth or USB as described oh the manual, the route not is sent. I remake the Bluetooth connections as explicated on the manual, but not work.
one thing that I repair is when I open the Navi, and go to search the options App H-D not is enable, and I dont know if I need to execute some additional step.
i try using the H-D app on my Mac Book and after create and send, when I turn on my Bike I received a message that a new route was received, but not working when I send from my Phone using the H-D App!
