It's my guess that it's something off your pants or from the tech that test rode your bike. If it won't wash off then try Goo Gone. If that don't work, haul it to dealer or try to buff it out your self.

That makes sense to me. What fluid is used in the clutch? Is it brake fluid? That will take paint off.
Ive never seen paint come off like that with a newer bike by hugging the tank with your knees, even if you have keys poking out of your pocket it would just scratch the paint. That to me looks alot like they had the tank off and dropped it on that corner and just put it back on....there seems to be what looks like rubbing all around that area like they tried buffing it or was that you? If it wasnt you it was def them, someone tried buffing that out.

Im not sure what is involved in the clutch recall, but my guess is the dealer had the tank off and dropped and damaged it, then unsuccessfully tried to wet sand and polish it out.
The tank doesn't need to come off to perform the recall procedure, but the DOT 4 that is used during the procedure will damage paint, and the damage isn't immediate.
You can see the lighter circle from the buffer where they buffed through the clear and brought the paint down too thin while trying to cover the accident up. Then they washed it to get all the dried polish off. My recommendation would be to get some touchup paint and fix it on your worn, they aren't going to do anything for you at this point especially since they original tried to cover it up instead of talking with you in the first place. Avoid them at all costs in the future and find a good indy.

When they did my clutch recall, they got fluid on my inner fairing. It was immediately visible. They replaced the inner with a new one.
