Funny you should ask...I just saw that configuration for the first time this morning in a picture. I don't think I'd like riding solo with my back against the box. I'd much rather keep my regular backrest. But to answer your question, yes, it looks like if you're running without a passenger seat and want the tourpack up against you that you can use the same docking posts as the sissy bar.
