Went down on sunday to check out whats up they told me that some type of switch tab had broken off and the plug came on donewhen the inner fairing was replaced. RE: 07 Ultra Classic no Start
[:@][:@][:@] After I got done letting my blood pressure drop ... Have them walk over get the bike bring it back in and fix it right this time. Enough excuses.
Are you putting the run stop switch on run before trying starter button? It will power up with run switch on off but starter will not work till it it put in run position. Ive done it before too so just asking.
I recently went through something similar. Went to ride and it would only click. Hadn't had it on the battery tender so I plugged it in. Rode a Patriot Guard Mission and started it three times that day. Went home washed it and went to put it in the garage and clicks again. Cleaned and retightned leads and charged overnight. Stills clicked, pulled battery and took to dealer and he said it checked ok. Went home put the battery back in and it started right up. Immediately took it to the dealer and after about a week they said they didn't find anything. Haven't been able to ride much lately but itstarts when I try it. The only difference isI removed leads off the battery for heated gloves and the battery tender both which are fused.
I had a problem with the switch on the clutch that prevents the bike from starting when in gear unless the clutch is pulled in. It was out of adjustment. Caused a similiar problem to what you are describing and after the dealer adjusted it I haven't had any more problems. My bike would start if I put it in neutral so that would be a way to see if this is your problem. Hope this helps.
I know a guy that has an '07 Ultra and he had a problem that it would start one time and not the next. He finally got it to the dealer and they determined it was the stater. If you see movement from the amp gage you may have the same problem.
Had something very similar happen to me. Just finished washing my bike at one of those pressure washer car wash places. I've washed my bike there dozens of times. Right down the street is the Harley dealer, so I drove down there to see what was going on. When I came back out the bike wouldn't start. Same symptons you described. The fuel pump primed and the check engine light went out and all you heard was a click. Went and told a tech. and he came right out and fixed it for me. Checked the battery first, but found that it was a bolt that was loose on top of the starter that held a wire in. Tightened it up and it started right up. BTW HD of Washington, pretty good dealer in my opinion.
