You can mount the relay almost anywhere, but I would recommend finding someplace closer to the amp. If you mount it under the fairing, you will have to run two heavy gauge wires to the front, in and out of the relay, which may force you to take off the gas tank. But, if you mount it under the seat or closer to the battery or amp, you only have to run the 18 guage control wire from the radio head to the relay...something you might be able to do without having to pull the gas tank all the way off...
Think less work...you already have the unswitched power wired to the amp from the battery and the control wire from the head to the amp, so why not mount the relay with the amp...the wiring you need is already there.
