Does anyone know if it is possible to put wheels from a 2005 Road King Custom on a 99 Road King? I have a friend that wants to sale me his tires, wheels, pulley, and rotors. I was told to have the bearings replaced w/ 3/4 inch and they should work.I think the rear is the same.
Yes you can even though the 99uses 3/4" axles and the wheels you would be putting on use 1" axles. Talked to a HD wrench and he said they sell a kit to do it. Or you can go out on your own and size em up. It's just a matter of getting the right bearings to fit the wheel huband a 3/4" axle. Also if you are going to do it on your own, please make sure you get high speed bearings. Aand yes I'm in the process of doing this myself. My 03 Road King wheels will be here today when I get home from work. I'm converting my 99 front end over to a 06-07 style without the cartridge in the fork. Still in the early stages, and have a long way to go yet. [:@]
I thought I read somewhere that the new style rotors are not compatible with the old style calipers. I can't for the life of me think of a reason they wouldn't work, but it's probably worth doing some research.
Your internal spacer from your old wheel should work. If you want an extra one, so you can sell your old wheels complete, I think I have one. Shoot me a PM with your address and I'll mail it to you. No charge.
One other thought. Does anyone think the pulleys are different. I know they are both 70 tooth but are the differnt thickness. The other bikes belt is narrower than mine.
