Today , I went out for a cruise about 100 miles away from home , stopped for coffee and when I went I started the bike , it ran for about 2 seconds and then stalled . I pushed the start button once more and she fired right back up . When I got home I checked for error codes using my FP3 software on my phone and saw P1010 ( missing password ) . I cleared the code and fired the bike up again with no issues , I did this a couple more times and each time the bike fired right up . Could it have been just a glitch in the system , I plan on going down to the dealer tomorrow morning and talking with them but I thought I'd ask here first .
After I cleared the code using the FP3 software , I ran through the diagnostic retrieval on the bike using the odometer , the code did not show up ( none ) but it did show PN33933-10 scrolling through when I hit the Odometer button the second time . That part # is the ECM . hopefully I'm not going to have to replace it .

Been through this many times and my 13 RK will shut off once after running for awhile just like you described. I change my key fobs regularly and just clear the code from time to time.
I've received the code once also... same symptom, fired up and died then started fine, but threw the code.
Do you leave your FP3 plugged in all the time? I think some have experienced issues with leaving it plugged in all the time. I don't leave it plugged in now and not had any issues since.
Thanks for your responses , I do have the FP3 plugged in and wire tied next to the fuse panel . It's the beginning of riding season up here and I just completed my stage 1 over the winter . I'm pretty confident I've got it tuned just the way I want it , so I could unplug it from the bike and see what happens . If down the road I feel like doing the auto tune , I can just plug it back in .
I did have some time last night , so I took it out for a ride and 3 times I shut it down and fired it back up , no issues , runs like a dream .
Update : Took the bike out for a 4hr ride . I made 5 separate stops and fired the bike back up again and carried on . Not once did it stall out and had to be restarted . When and if I decide to do the auto tune I'll just hook it back up and disconnect it when I'm done .
MegaJohn , after today's test run I'm thinking this really could have been the reason for the error . If it does happen again , I'll be sure to post another update .
About the auto tune , I watched a video where the guy mentions to run at least 2 tanks of fuel before starting the auto tune . It gives the map a chance to " learn " the bike . My bike runs like a champ , no decel pop or any other issues . I'm wondering if it's even worth doing an auto tune since the bike is already running really well .
I am no expert, but that was my experience too. The FP3 with auto-tune made a noticeable improvement over the canned mapped Power Commander V that was on the bike previously.
I've had my FP3 for about a year and performed the auto-tune right after downloading the initial map. After many/most of the cells in the map were learned, I flashed it and all has been great.
My auto-tune session was like half a tank... I would expect more is best, but I'm a bit impatient.
MegaJohn , I think you've talked me into giving the auto tune a go . If it can make the bike run better than it already does I'll be even happier .
I can't really answer that question accurately either , since it's just the beginning of the riding season up here . Although the riding that I have done so far , I haven't noticed much of a difference . Seems to using about the same amount , There was one particular ride I went on last week , that I've done many times before and the fuel gauge showed the same amount when I got home as it did before I got the Fp3 .
I took a 1 hr ride the other day and used 1/2 a tank to get there and only 1/4 to get home . Wind played a major factor in that one .
I just ride to enjoy life , if I need gas I get it .
I would recommend the auto-tune. You can always go back if you don't like it. I figure auto-tune optimizes the performance for the given sensor readings, speed, throttle position, etc.
My bike's previous owner had the dealer install slip-ons, SE breather, and a PCV... I assume with a canned map and no tuning. I had to decide whether to spend for a tune/dyno session or something with auto-tune. I know a knowledgeable technician could eek out more performance, but I didn't want to pay again if I changed something up. So I went with FP3.
For my bike... the FP3 (with auto-tune) performs better than the PCV with the canned map.
