I wanted to get some input as to what air cleaner and exhaust combination would yield me a high amount of HP boost. I have an 07 Ultra Classic and want to do it up right. Any info is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
A good start is the SE air cleaner and a good set of slip ons - like V&H Ovals. That'll get you about 5-10 HP - you will need a fuel management system, however, such as a Power Commnader or a SERT (Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner) plus a dyno. You'll end up paying anywhere from $100 to $150 per HP.
SERT and a stage 1 will get you a little bump, I just had the 103 Stage II with SE street perf. slip-ons installed , only 250 miles but I think this is how all the touring models should come.
I've ridden the CVO 110's and this isn't substationally different ( same cams) . The upgrade is relatively cheap compared to the 88-103 . I'd certainly recommend it .
There are several stages you can use to improve the preformance on your bike. I went with Reinhart True Duals, SE Race Tuner and an Arlen Ness Big Sucker (replacing the stage one w/slip ons that came with the bike) to start with a big improvement over stock. In fact; it runs so good right now I may not do anything more on the preformance end for awhile.
I just went through what your looking to do. Look at my signature for what I put on. The throttle response is 'sick quick' over stock.
I couldn't believe the RPM range how much it opened up between shifts.
The V&H ovals sound awesome at idle, cruising and throught the range of shifting. Their a little loud for me though when the bike is under demand, generally going up hills.
Unfortunately, I now have a oil leak and it's going in Friday for repair (nothing to do with mod's)
I went with the Arlen Ness Big Sucker A/C kit, with V&H oval slip-ons and V&H FuelPak. Big difference in low end torque and overall power and performance. Had a small problem with pinging on light acceleration (going up hills and such), but a quick call to V&H tech support fixed that. Cost was a little over a grand. You won't be disappointed...
