Lost oil pressure the other day. After tearing into the cam chest I found that my front cam bearing was trashed. The gerotor on the oil pump is trashed/broke. I am unable get the oil pump to slide all the way off the shaft. Does the gerotors have to be out of the pump before you can get the pump housing off the shaft? Does anyone have a cam plate and oil pump that was removed in serviceable condition? The money machine is starting to knock and break down so I sure could use a deal on some good used parts. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If the bearing was trashed, you may want to consider flushing the whole lower end with a solvent. There'll be a lot of debris in there that could trash your replacement oil pump.
Phil I PMed you the number.
Rdam. 51k, but the oil pump was replaced at 39k due to a fwd cam bearing of all things.
Retired_Ted. I plan on getting it rinsed out real good. The bearing needles fell out when I pulled the cam plate. Whats bad is I think I probably trashed the pump and bearing when I nursed it home with no pressure.
I have a cam plate with stock cams still in plate with oil pump out ofa carbed'01 FLHT with 42000mi that you can have justpay shipping. Also I have a set of Andrews 37b camswith 34000mi for $100 plus shipping. Let me know!
Sounds like a plan for the cam plate and oil pump. I am already running 203S and don't plan on putting anymore money in the cam chest until I do gear drive. I will PM you.
Phil you were right about the oil pump not sliding off due to galding of the crank. Put the old steering wheel puller on it and slid it right off. Thanks to all for the help!!!
