Default Charging issue ?????????????

2007 R/Glide
Just completed my audio upgrade, Kenwood head unit, CV B52 Amp, 4 Polk 6.5 Speakers. I'm noticing that my battery gauge is running at around 15V (while cruising), is this normal due to the Amp current draw ?

Double check it with a voltage meter that isn't the one on your bike, they aren't all that accurate. Might also want to see what the current draw is when running all that electronics

At speed you should have 14.2V, give or take a couple tenths.
As said, dont rely on dash guage, check it with a dvm.
If you really have 15V you may be looking at a failing voltage regulator.

As stated above check it with a multi meter on the DC setting. Check voltage on battery, start the bike with multi meter on battery and watch it charge it should go up to 14.0 or so.

I think this thread only merits 8 question marks, not 13

Like others have said check it at the battery with the meter. Should get around 14.2

Great idea on using a DVM, why I didn't even give that a thought since I have 3 of them in the shop is beyond me....thanks, I'll get that done next week and report back with results.

Ok, ran the bike w/a DVM and everything checks out good, voltage at idle 13.9V, @ 2500 RPM on up: 14.3 V, nothing higher.

Thanks all for the reassurance that it was more than likely the OEM HD gauge.......

expecting the volt meter to be accurate is as silly as expecting the gas gauge to be accurate! Glad everything turned out ok for you.
