2007 R/Glide Just completed my audio upgrade, Kenwood head unit, CV B52 Amp, 4 Polk 6.5 Speakers. I'm noticing that my battery gauge is running at around 15V (while cruising), is this normal due to the Amp current draw ?
Double check it with a voltage meter that isn't the one on your bike, they aren't all that accurate. Might also want to see what the current draw is when running all that electronics
At speed you should have 14.2V, give or take a couple tenths.
As said, dont rely on dash guage, check it with a dvm.
If you really have 15V you may be looking at a failing voltage regulator.
As stated above check it with a multi meter on the DC setting. Check voltage on battery, start the bike with multi meter on battery and watch it charge it should go up to 14.0 or so.
Great idea on using a DVM, why I didn't even give that a thought since I have 3 of them in the shop is beyond me....thanks, I'll get that done next week and report back with results.
