Windshield woes
I had an 9" LRS ultra elite shield on my 2012 street glide and I really loved that shield, I traded for a 2019 street glide special and thought that I could go with a 1" lower shield on it because of the mail box slot in the fairing, so I went with a 8" ultra elite. I should have gone back to the 9" like on the 2012. Long story short I was not very thrilled with the new pricing on the LRS shields, you used to be able to get them for $60-70 at certain times of the year, but now all they give is sometimes 15%. So I see for fathers day they are giving a whopping $20 off, but if you go with the 15% it is $22.50 off so I try to change the code to the 15% off and NO go. I really like these shields but am tired of paying almost double what I paid for the same shield not more than a year or so ago. So I ordered a freedom shield in the 9", got it and left the protective film on it and took it for a spin and it does not give as much wind protection as the 8" LRS ultra elite, Think I will just keep the 8" LRS and send the Freedom shield back. I do think that the LRS is a better shield than the Freedom shield, but if LRS doesn't lower their prices I will not be buying any more of them either.

I just bought the 9" Freedom in the lightest tint for my '15 SGS. I bought the touring version with the two little feet that make it a couple inches wider on both sides and directs more wind out and around the hands. I love it, but I've only use it on a road trip, then it's back to the factory smoke 5". Also swap out the La Pera Bare Bones seat for my two up for touring. I'm all for comfort and function long distance but my vanity demands that badass bar-hopper look stripped down.

Looked at your original post, seems like a lot of moving parts to it. If you just bought a brand new 2019 Street Glide and you know what you want for a windshield why not get it? I've had 3 replacement windshields on my Harley, each met the need at the time, none broke the bank.
