Wasn't sure if this was the best place, but I figure if anybody has had the same problem it'd be in here.
Hogtune lids and I had an issue with screws posts breaking off after a couple long rides (mostly at deals gap). Noticed it when I got home and there was a tiny bit of water in the bottom of both bags. Apparently each side had the plastic screw in piece snap off from the lid. Obviously the weight of the 6x9's and the vibration made them fail in less than 6 months.
Has anybody had this issue and how did you fix it? I can drill out the holes and just epoxy in some small bolts to anchor them that way. But cannot attach the grill by any means other than maybe an epoxy. Not a big deal but thought I'd ask and see if anybody has found a better way.
Yes I contacted hogtunes. Once installed the warranty is void. But they are replacing them and I paid for shipping. But if it happened once, then it's likely to happen again. Big design flaw in chinese plastic. For about 2 dollars per set could have easily beefed up the plastic a bit more.
Anyway, if anybody has some ideas pass them along. Figured it couldn't hurt to have solutions.
I doubt you will get any better answers than what you got in the audio section. You "might" get a little more help if you post pix. Unless someone has that lid they would prob have no idea what your talkin about
