08 flhtcu, I have a stage 1 intake and dual Bassani DNTs. I am going to put 255 cams in it with adjustable rods, new tensioners, blah blah blah. The only thing that is making me uneasy about this project is the tuning. I'm looking at the V/H FP3 as opposed to dyno tuning because it's gonna be less expensive than dyno time, and it looks like it will tune the bike in a plug and play fashion and still give me the ability to make adjustments if necessary. Does anyone have any experience with this system?
Make sure they have the auto tune ironed out for 08 models. I found that it was setting voltages incorrectly and not getting anywhere with the auto tune. Some online digging found me the correct settings and then it worked well.
I liked the interface quite a lot and did plenty of fiddling with my old 08 bike. I have a brand new FP3 in its box for this bike, but it came with a Harley tuner so I've been using that.
Fwiw, my last bike had a 103 kit with 255 cams. They may have updated, but at the time you had to call tech support (excellent service!) To get an initial change for cams then you could Auto tune out adjust from there.
Fp3 is the ****. Cams can be selected for tuning. They actually recommend not to auto tune unless you absolutely need to. Contact them to make sure the 08 is supported as well, but for later models the fp3 is a grea product.
Thanks!
I will give them a call today and talk to them about the autotune for my specific setup. I have a buddy who suggests taking it to the dyno and having the ecm flashed with a D-link(?). I'm just looking for some more **s outta this bike and looking to do this cam project and tuning in the simplest most economical way
I think Im leaning more towards the Power Vision at fuelmoto. I like the closed loop tuning capabilities and it looks like the support is excellent. A buddy also has the protune setup so we can definitely get a nice tune on it.
I had a FP3 on my '15 slim an it did the job but the tuners near me aren't too keen on them. if you're happy with canned maps an auto tunes it's a good tuner that's easy to use an I really liked the phone interface so I didn't have to plug the power vision in. I went with a power vision for my street glide since that's what the tuners around me like an it came with the updates an a map already installed from fuel moto. Fuel moto sent me a tune when I added the cycle rama cams an it runs really well on it. eventually I'll get a dyno tune but it runs like a beast imo right now.
It looks like the fuelmoto deal on the PV cant be beat. Im doing the cam soon and will be doing a 103 kit in the winter and PV will be the way to adapt to those changes w/o having to dyno every time I change something.
