My truck has a 6.0 Liter in it, my Harley says 114 on the derby cover. Harley is all about cubic INCHES! Not CC's. Jimmy Carter tried to ram the metric system down our throats in the seventies, remember that? It didn't go well for him either. Besides there is no challenge counting by tens, it takes some brain power to do inches, feet, fractions, ounces, pounds, etc... I dislike the mixed hardware on our bikes. Make a decision, go all metric or go all standard. It has to be really painful on the folks in Europe and Asia to support these bikes.

I guess my point was, HD lubricants intended for export to Canada are packaged in metric containers.

Wow! Brain power to subtract 30 ounces from 32 ounces? Not sure about your school system, but that's 2nd grade math in most.

LOL! Those 2 ounces got me again! My poor attempt at humor regarding the simplicity of the metric system was undone by those 2 ounces. That is just too funny.

Bone Doc, you are correct. My bad. What I was trying to express is that a ****-ant amount seemed to make a bit of difference, which surprised me. Some on here say put in a quart and its good to go. I felt my bike was out of sorts so I added some.

It depends, I just checked my oil supplies. I see the HD Formula+ is sold in a 1 litre/33.8 oz bottle, never used their engine oil. The Amsoil I buy is sold it a 1 US quart/ 946 millilitre size. The Mobile 1 oil I use in my car is 1 litre. At the end of the day most in Canada would just call them all 1 quart or 1 litre (depends how old you are). Either way I will use a measuring cup and start with something less than called for then top it off by eye. The engine I skip the measuring cup then pay attention toping it off and checking when I'm down to the last quart.

I do most of my own servicing but I have found inconsistencies in oil levels when going to dealers. Usually after a little research I figure the tech used the recommended amount of oil in the transmission or primary for an earlier model of a touring bike. They are probably just rushing through the service and adding oil by memory rather than verifying the proper levels by opening a shop manual for that year and model of bike.

I got my '13 EGlide back one time with the transmission oil half way between the full mark and the top of the dipstick. I will still get work done at dealers when I'm one the road, but always double check the work before I leave the parking lot. I also check my engine oil in my car in front of the bay doors of a drive through oil change shop before I head out too.
