I like the new bike but the heat it puts out is much worse than my '04 road king. I had the download to the engine and I know about BUB cross-dresser pipes. Is there any other way of keeping the heat off my legs such as somekind of shield or something less expensive than new $600 pipes? I'd appreciate any help solving this problem. I know it sounds ridiculous but MAN...these things get HOT!
My Bud just bought an 07 Ultra, first thing he did was get the rjsoriginal heat shields. For his 1k check he's having the dealer perform the heat managment download. (parade mode). He's leaving his bikestock in terms of pipes etc, and said the the heatshields from rjsoriginals improved the ride for him and his wife greatly.
H-D actually sells the shields now. I got mine from Kuryaken, took about 15 minutes to install. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp...ey&ci=3352
Does pretty good at keeping the heat off the inside of my thighs. Now if someone could only find a cure for swampass while riding, i would be a happy man!
You don't need new pipes, cans, heat deflectorsor A/C. Just throw a fuel management unit on it. You can get a TFI or Fuelpak for around a couple of hundred bucks. That will cool her down. In fact after she gets more fuel, all that engine noise will calm down. You'll even be able to take 6th gear down to 55mph without lugging. The reason Harley sells hot running bikes are to our benefit. Our old lady's can't take the heat, (Wants it fixed) so it makes it easy for us to by all that aftermarket stuff.

i know the fairing lowers complete the look of the ultra but you wouldn't believe how much cooler the engine will run and how much more airflow the driver gets with them removed. i took mine off the other day when it was 100 degrees and the oil temps were about 30 degrees cooler and i actually like how the bike looks without them on. give it a try. they come off really easy and if you don't like the bike with them off you can put them back on real quick.
I also took my "fairing lowers" off. I was talking to the manager of my local stealership about it today. I was told the way they (Fairing lowers)are designed keep the engine cool, by directing cool air around it. Thus blowing the heated air on the rider and passenger.
Being hot is cool... LoL
