I read a post a little while ago about brake squeel. I had read about this issue previously and mentioned that the rotors needed to be swapped. I then went to lunch and looked at the front of my 07 RG. If you are sitting on the bike I would consider where my left hand hangs to be the left side, yet the rotor on that side of the bike is clearly marked RIGHT. Low an behold I went the other side of the wheel and that side was marked LEFT. Now I know I am not the shapest bulb on the tree (hehe) but am i backwards or is Harley?
The brake rotors were stamped incorrectly at the factory and there was a service bulletin in reference to letting the dealers know that the brake rotors were indeed supposed to be crossed-up like that right after the '07's were released(something like this).[&:]
Left and right position are determined by sitting on the bike.
Man am I a glutton for punishment. But I have another question. I got off a sportster to get on a bagger. Been wanting one for years. The sporty never had problems and as far as I know there were never any sb's. Here goes the question. Is there a place to go and look at service bulletins on the web and more importantly be contacted by email if a sb comes out regarding my scoot? I am pretty sure I already know the answers to these ?s but I have to ask.
Jiffy stand is n the left side, Post above is correct on the brake rotor markings. Until 2007 that is then the changed the rotor marking to keep everyone asking stupid questions even longer!..........Just Kidding!
Just to prove that I am not the brightest bulb in the drawer (hehe) I went to the 2 links ezlife provided (Thanks). The first one does not have any recalls after 2003 and the HD link gave me the same information about service intervals as my service manual. I would like to see the same documentation dealers see. Think about this. There is a sb that comes down about tires or rims that under certain conditions they fail. I am out on a nice trip to the BRP and my tire/rim blows and the wife and I go over a cliff. This is not the time to find out there is a recall.
