I went to Home Depot and bought longer Grade 8 bolts and washers to use as shims on the bolts.

There are several manufacturers of floorboard extensions / fixes .... Some move out a little, some out a little bit further, some that move them forward and some that move them forward and out ( Kuryakyn comes to mine ) I have the 1" out ( if I remember correctly ) and they're comfortable ... I'm 6'2"

I used the Kuryakyn floorboard spacer kit , part # 7509 . These will bring your boards out another 3/4" . I actually ride with my heals on the boards and the tip of my boots on the road pegs . I find it quite comfortable ..

There are two methods to move the boards outward. One is to put spacers between the brackets and the frame (for God's sake don't use hardware store washers, get real spacers), the other is to use extenders between the bracket and the board at the hinge.

The first method increases the risk that you will touch down a fixed part, i.e. the brackets. Touch them down too hard and you'll lever the wheels off the pavement. This can be an unpleasant and potentially painful experience.

The second method increases the likelihood that you will scrape the boards, but the boards hinge up freely, so this is not an issue.

Personally I wouldn't go more than 3/4" on a spacer fit between the frame and the brackets. Anything more than that (some go out to 1.5") is just asking for a potentially catastrophic surprise.

I went with tall boy brackets on my Electra Glide -> https://www.tallboyscycles.com/ and did the Kuryakyn 3/4" inch spacers as well. Additionally did the extended brake pedal arm and shifter arm. I used to ride a fat bob and got used to forward controls. This set up puts me near that riding position and no need for highway pegs,. Another solution that I saw on another bike is peg boards -> https://www.pegboards.com/ . They are pricey but are probably a better solution. Does any one have peg boards and want to comment on them?

Not out, but more overall movement back and forth, I have Cyclesmiths Banana Boards on both bikes. Here they are on my RGS. They are the ultimate comfort mod IMO.

See when I sit on the bike my feet hang off the outer edge of both boards, I"m bow-legged and I got big feet..... Really I'm not used to this big ol hunk of iron between my legs, flipping Honda's.
