Default Seat recommendation

I know, another one of those types! I have the stock seat on my 16 RGS. About two years ago I had hip surgery (both were replaced). I'm about 5'10" with a 31/32" inseam. Normally that's not an issue with the stock seat (and riders backrest), but I've noticed that my legs get cramped when riding for a longer period of time in front of the brake and shifter pedals. I'm looking at getting highway pegs again, but also considering something like the Tallboy seat, as that sets me back 2" and still takes the riders backrest.

Has anybody used that seat before, and any recommendations on a different brand (and still have the riders backrest)? I know the pegs will help, but I want to be comfortable when shifting or braking as well.

Thanks!

I've had several Harley non stock, Corbin, and Mustang. By far Mustang has the most comfortable seat. Corbin would be second but the one I had I was a little disappointed in the quality. I'm on my third bike with a Mustang seat.

I had Corbin Dual Tourer on my last 2 bikes. You should try getting a Softbrake extended brake pedal too. Gives you more room for your foot to move around.
Mustang might make a good seat, but I'd rather sit on leather than vinyl.

I’m a Corbin fan myself. Similar measurements as you. I get the solo with backrest. Not cheap though

Just picked up my bike today with the tallboy seat (I’m 6’4”) and it makes quite a difference imo. I’m now undecided whether it’s good enough as it is, or whether to take it to a custom seat place and add an extra 2” or so in height.

Before I got the bike I was sure I was going to add the extra height but the tallboy seat alone seems to have made more difference than I thought. I have added the kuryakyn extended brake pedal which makes a big difference too.

The tallboy seat is very decent. I had one on my roadking for a few years and had no complaints, Im 6'2" with long arms so I really needed something to sit me back a couple of inches.

The stock seats suck. After about an hr of riding my stock seat I have butt hurt and I'm looking for a place to pull over and get off the bike for a while.
I've been researching seats for several months. There are a number of aftermarket seats that riders seem to like or say they are OK. The seat that I never see any negative reviews on is the Russell Day Long. I'm using an Airhawk R seat pad right now and it increases my ride time a couple extra hrs at best.

I'll be ordering a RDL in the very near future, probably next week. The drawbacks of the RDL are the price and you have to send in your stock seat to be customized.
I'll pay the price for a seat that I can make a day ride and not hurt.
My solution to not having a seat on my bike for a few weeks while waiting on my seat to be customized was to purchase a used used seat identical to my stock seat on the cheap. Lots of factory seats out there for sale for the same reason, they are uncomfortable for most of us.
I'll sell the stock seat that I bought after my RDL comes in for what I have in it or more.
I'll have the slightly used stock seat that I ordered Monday. Then I'll start the order process for an RDL.

Take a look at Tallboyscycles.com. A kit that moves the boards forward and down for more room. I have a used set for sale in the classified as of today.
