From the 2019 Touring manual:

Manual calls for loctite and LOCKWASHER . Torque value is higher than what Pro Action specs call for.
But like I said, mine had neither lock washers or loctite on the bolts. They came out real easy.

Probably red loctite too! With that you don’t need lock washers.

Edit: oops I missed the above post. Ok fine, blue it is.

I got rid of the crappy OEM rear air shocks on both my '13 RGC and later on my '16 RGU. Bolts weren't hard to get out, only needed a wrench.

Default 2019 Street Glide Special

2 weeks ago I exchanged shocks and carefully examined this bike with approximately 200 mi on it. It was transported from Texas and the bike looked correct. The 4 mounting bolts did not have any blue lock-tite on them and my estimated torque to remove them using a 3/8" drive breaker bar was 40 foot pounds.

PS: there was no lock washers on this bike, just flat washers.

Looks like the factory can't even follow their own specs. Quality control goin down the *******.
I put it back together with lock washers and blue loctite at 60ft lbs.

Just an observation, you will never find a lockwasher on a Caterpillar diesel engine unless it was installed after it left the factory. They just use a thick flatwasher and call it good. Just something I thought I'd throw out there.

Heat is only recommended for red locktite..... shock bolts call for blue (medium) locktite....

Psst. Lockwashers are a grandfathered in fluffer to the BOM on any product. They literally do NOTHING but add cost.

Chill the hell out and forget about it.

Much ado about nothing. The factory does not use lock washers, and there are no lock washers shown in the parts catalogs. No need to knot your knickers over the service manual listing a lock washer in the description.

You haven't done any harm using a lock washer. It it pleases you, go for it.

OK, I get it, lock washers might not be necessary, but there was no loctite on the bolts, and they came out real easy.
