Sept 28, 2019. Finally got some cycles to test out the battery, stator and voltage regulator. As soon as I went to check the battery voltage at startup I could see the negative cable was loose. Vibrating loose. Shut it down, added a washer as a spacer (like the ones that fell out when I was checking cam chain tensioners and disconnected the battery). Fired her up and the voltage was 12.7 on the non-running engine battery, 11.4 on startup, and 14.2 and 14.3 at idle and throttle to about 3k RPM. But since I planned on testing everything out anyway, I figured, just do it the right way. Unbolted the voltage regulator, pulled the connector from the stator. Grabbed the meter and everything checked out perfectly. Took her out for about a 35-mile cruise and not one engine light or code thrown. I'm sure in my haste to wrap up the chain tensioner check I failed to screw the negative battery terminal down completely. Just goes to show even when you're sure everything is good, it's always best to go back and double-check. Anyway, not sure if anyone else names their bikes, but I finally gave her a name. She will now be known as "Fondles". Which goes along great with the name of my 2019 Limited which I affectionately call "Cuddles".

Nice bike, I like the two toned look on those. Good find on the battery connections, too. All good until the last two sentences, but to each his own I guess. I'll have to stop by Harbor Freight for one of those bore-scopes, good idea and Thanks !

Sept 30, 2019. Cleaned and recharged air filter in crappy Drag specialties Hypercharger air cleaner. I'm not really into the looks of this unit. Thinking the S&S teardrop or if I could find the original oval style H-D unit, I'll go back to that. Scored a used clear windshield from Facebook Marketplace for 50 bucks as my clear windshield was cracked at the bottom. Next on the agenda, changing fork oil, the bike feels fine, but I'm sure it's never been changed. Also on the hunt for the original spoked wheels which will get whitewalls. Presently on the bike are machined H-D Thunderstar wheels if anyone is interested.

Love your bike and I like the thunder star wheels. To bad I gave my spoked wheels away they had 12 miles on them but I had them swapped out for a set of Thunder Star wheels before it ever left the dealership.
Oh yeah you can not sell the wheels here you will need to sell them over here

Nice ride. I have the blue 02 version of your bike. Check the cross over exhaust pipe on your bike for a broken bracket weld. It was primarily a problem with Rineharts, but ya never know. I love my bike and have had almost no problems with it in 30,miles (from 15,000 to 45,000). I had to clean the speed sensor that screws into the top of the transmission when my speedometer was going wonky. If that tour pack was blue and you were closer I'd make a deal with you. Anyway, ride safe, sweet bike!

Thanks brother! Slowly making her mine. Since I got her, I've barely rode the '19 FLHTK. Something about an older HD.

Good to know about the speed sensor and cross over pipe, thanks for that man! She's a great bike, I'm not 100% on what I want for her yet.

Best thing I added to my FLHR is the trunk. Never comes off. Why would I want to give up that luxory?
