I had a 05 and 09 Eglide Classics and now have a 16 RK. This bike put the joy back in this kids heart. Lose the mass ,keep the weight back down low where it belongs and the perma smile is back in force. As far as the touring goes I am able to put more on the RK and still keep the fun factor.
I have a heavily modified RK (see avatar)...fork mounted deflectors, hard lowers, mid-frame deflectors and tour pack. My previous HD was an Electraglide. The RK handles wind and long distances every bit as well as the EG. Of course, my RK is probably closer to an UC than to a stock RK. I'm bettin' my RK weighs as much as a RG or EG.
Ive had 4 Road Glides and 1 Road King. I LOVED my Road King around town and short day tripping. Of all the Harleys Ive owned, the Road King was my favorite low rider feel. My Slim might be my second favorite to just jump on and clear the mechanism, but when riding all day or long miles I want the Road Glide for two reasons: 1) Stereo to listen to & 2) Fairing to keep the road grime out of my face. The road grime is easily managed on a Road King with a windshield, but if you want music while riding then the Glides are the only way to go to me.
I rode Ultras from 06 to 14 so after my divorce, I figured I wouldn't do any more long trips, so I went to buy a 10 SG CVO they had on the floor, but it was gone, ended up with a 14 RK. Just didn't want to deal with the top heavy Ultras any more. First trip on the RK was Toledo Ohio to Austin Tx.. so much for no long trips. LOL I am very pleased with my RK. I have QD lower fairings, and QD chopped tourpak. Most of the summer I ride without the windshield. Like Today.
Im 65 and loving my RG to death. But when I cant hold her up anymore instead of a RK would probably consider a Heritage. Little lighter than the King and still a good tourer. Not thinking of a trike at this time.
I just went from a 2010 limited after a close encounter with the deer kind to a 2019 road king. I was thinking about downsizing and it was easier when my bike was written off. I only have a few hundred kms on it but feels quite light and nimble compared to the limited. I did try a road glide and was surprised that I didnt enjoy it more. Not for me I guess. Loving the king so far but definitely more wind than the limited. Older Old New

I have ridden both an RK and a UC from central texas to LA, amongst other rides. Both were/are great bikes. I have had 1 RK am my 5th Ultra.
Both have been great bikes and have allot of overlap. If someone were to ffer a free bike and only those two to choose from, it would be a very tough choice.
at the end of the day, which feels the best for you based on your riding style
