Depend if you take primary off to replace stator. Read someone claim to grind his primary down so he could get the rotor off. It is kinda screwed up that you can't just pull out through the primary. I have never tried to see. I just replaced mine when primary was off.

I don't think using RTV to seal that leak is some kind of cop out. It works well. Even if those who replace the stator wind up putting some on the grommet anyway.
07 street glide, same problem. rtv black like has been said. Only thing I would add, once repaired do not run for 24 hrs. Give it time to cure. Works like a charm if done the right way. It feels like Christmas when its done. So easy and cheap I felt like santa came to see me.

Looking at bolts in the pic, looks post 2007. Problem with this forums, is people don't realize there are differences in year, and what they have now is vastly different. Not saying can't grind and older bike, just that they are different.
