Default Fuse breaker keeps resetting

I have a 95 fltcu. I had problems with head lights diming when I used my blinkers or brakes so I removed the battery charged it and put it back in the bike. I then cleaned the 50 amp breaker. Making sure to put the wires back on correctly. One from the starter terminal to one side of the breaker and the wire to the regulator and the wire for power on other terminal. I then took the main ground above starter off and scraped the paint away for good connection then bolted grounds back on. Now my light breaker fuse keeps resetting. To my knowledge I did not touch or unplug anything else. What I find curious is the dash lights work without the main grounds not being hooked up. Any ideas on why the head light fuse would be constantly resetting? Thanks

Replace all your circuit breakers. Over a period of time circuit breakers will weaken thermally and may not be able to carry the designed load.

Wink

And if new breakers don't cure the problem, it is likely you have problems such as bad grounds and/or bad wiring connectors in each of the circuits you mention. So as a second line of attack carefully disconnect each such connection in turn, clean and reassemble with dialectric grease. On an older bike such as yours (and my 1990 Glide) electrical problems like this are often mechanical. In other words the electrickery cannot function properly due to such things as corrosion, or damaged wires, etc. Unfortunately there is no simple solution, just a steady and systematic trawl through your wiring, seeking out physical things wrong. If you have a pal with a good understanding of circuitry (mine is a telephone engineer!) a second pair of eyes can be very helpful.

For future reference we have a dedicated section for Evos, so do call by soon, to meet up with fellow owners.

I’ve had that problem due to a bad led headlite ,try unplugging the connector to the bulb and see? Also if you have the FSM recheck ur connections from the diagram.
