I know you ask about a SGS but I installed 12” Factory 47 bars on my ‘19 RG with no extensions at all. I did buy a Yaffe super clamp but other than the clamp, bars and a couple hours labor nothing else. The RG is easier since you don’t have to remove the fairing but it took me 2hrs and 10 minutes. My local dealer wanted 6hrs labor @ $125/hr.

I just changed my bars a couple weeks ago to 12" Yaffe bars. All the regular wires and cables had plenty of length. But I did have to extend a couple wires for my factory heated grips.

+$1000 is a total rip; my local dealer quoted me anywhere from $600 to $800 for the install. They solder the wires so that according to them gets rid of the risk of the wire extensions disconnecting.

Requires no wire cutting. Another concern is in the video they show you how to reroute the brake line into the housing under the tank where the main wire harness runs. You have to snip the side of the housing a couple of inches. Its a pretty straight forward install I just wanted to know if what he is saying is common from dealerships.

The bars they are doing in the video are 14's, this is not required for 12's. I recently put 12 inch factory 47's on my 2019 cvo sg, everything fit just fine. I did flip the wires around like the video shows to give the proper length. The hardest part of the job (for me) was pulling the wires through the bars, I have stock heated grips so that made it a little more difficult. Patience is key but I would not hesitate to do another set. The factory 47 video carried me through, this was my first set of bars I've ever installed myself. Good luck sir!

I only de-pinned 2 wires on the left side, did not want to but I fought with it till I got frustrated. Had the normal wires and then both plugs for the heated grips were on that side. I did take several pics of each wire and plug for reference for putting them back correct.

Did 12” bars on my 2015 SGS. Added the wire extensions to make it easier. Assembly lube (generously) is your friend. Factory cables easy. Dealer also quoted $1000.

Not only did the dealer quote that much but my buddy works there in the service department. They did his 12” and Even charged him to add longer clutch and brake lines. Crazy.

For those of you that are on the fence as to whether or not you should do this yourself, I say do it! I did alot of reading and watched a few videos, made a list of supplies I would need, TOOK MY TIME and took lots of pictures on my phone for reference. It took me longer than the average person because of two things: 1) I have a little mechanical/technical ability but removing pins and connectors had me doubting myself a bit. Theres a good technique shown on the Factory 47 video - 2) With the faring opened up and the gas tank off, I was able to clean areas I couldnt hit before. Snaking the cable thru was the most difficult part however, the right snake wire, taping and a little grease to help it slide and it was all over in about 20-25 minutes.

I didn't because they're 1.5" bars. On anything less I probably would. A couple generous shots of dry spray lube (silicon or lithium I believe) really helps.
