Attention Twin Cam owners; we havent forgot about you! We bought a TC 103 R&D bike and are just starting the beginning of our Super Cam Comparo! We will be testing about 20 or so bolt in cams in the Twin Cam 103; Andrews, S&S, Wood, Cycle Rama, & Redshift. We will be posting dyno charts and are also working on a master cam spec repository for the FM University website. Due to the amount of cams we will be testing this set of tests will be be stretched out over the next several months; swapping cams & tuning as time presents itself. Stay tuned!
Big thumbs up for doing this .
Ill start first with a question . Which if any surprised you the most ?
some interesting decisions to make if all your looking to do is drop in a cam and be done with it. If your honest with how you really ride/what kind of riding you do this info is extremely helpful.
Good Job
We had a pretty good idea where most of them would land as nearly all of them have came across the dyno at one time or another, and as for the Wood's grinds we know them intimately so no surprises there. It was great seeing each cam in the same atmosphere. Each of the cams we tested were really good in their own respective way, but a few of them shined to me, probably because I don't get a chance work with them as frequently as some of the others, that's what made the test fun! The S&S 583 was a standout, this one made surprisingly strong low-mid RPM power, it doesn't have a torque curve it has a torque line down low. The Red Shift 525 also proved to be a beast for a little cam, very fun if you want early power below 4500. An honest answer is any of the early-mid range cams we tested really delivered. The S&S MR103 also impressed, it makes a really good balance of Hp & Tq with really good overall numbers. On the opposite end of the spectrum the S&S 570, Redshift 575, Feuling 574 are each really fun cams for guys that like to hot rod, and the Wood TW-999-6a is simply an animal. I could literally go on about each cam as they all have their own individual character.
Nice! PO had 510g cams installed in mine. Relatively happy with them but they dont really come on until 3k rpm which is when I'm normally shifting. S&S site shows they're a better choice for 96ci, I would've probably chosen one that comes on quicker.
This is what I have been looking for. Same bike same set up Woods 222 vs Andrews 48-57 Cycle-Rama 570-2 575 and S&S mr103. I am doing cams this winter.

Looks like your bike is a Switchback? Are the differences between a 103, 103HO and 103 Twin Cooled going to matter in these tests? Or will the performance improvements be similar regardless which version of the 103 we have?
