Default Let's Begin..

Just bought a 2020 RK FLHR. My first Harley! Came from my first bike, a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT. That was a fun bike. I learned how to ride, wrench, and enjoy on that thing. I'm 6'3" so it was way too small for me, and I needed a 6th gear.
REALLY wanted a SG, but I'm too tall for it. The RK stole my soul from the first gear shift. Didn't try the RG because of $$. Kinda wish I would have, but I really wanted a classic looking bike.

So question, what should I do first (besides ride through the break in)? Er...I already have the sissy bar/backrest for the lady and a luggage rack on order. So what's next? I'm thinking I need some lighting.. suggestions?

I'm 6'2 and had a 2017 street glide and now a 2019 cvo street glide. I in no way feel too tall for the street glide, I love it. As for lighting you mention, you can never go wrong with some good LED's up front and rear, it's one of the first things I do to my bikes, visibility to others is a great thing! Congrats on your bike and good luck sir!

  • Any recommendations on LEDs? Searching the forum sucks, everything is from 2011.

Nice bike, congrats!!!

First thing I do if it's not already done is aftermarket exhaust so I can hear it better.

I'm a big fan of custom dynamics, great products with lifetime warranty. Their probeam line of signals and brake lights are worlds brighter than stock. They make led headlights also, they are pricey but not as bad as HD's daymaker. Several very good options out there for LED headlights for reasonable prices, even if you dont ride at night and good LED headlight makes you so much more visible during the day.

Congratulations on the new RK. That's a fine looking machine.

So... where will you put the gas cap when you're filling up?

I have a 2004 RK and I changed out my signals and brake light for the HD LEDs. But for the headlight and drivers I went with the Truck-Lite LEDs. I think they are the best on the market for LED headlights.
