Just bought a 2019 Ultra Limited. Didn't like the fact the options are going away for 2020. The seat positioning is good. Just need to drop the seat a inch. Seat claims are not very clear. Anyone 5'8" or so looking to do the same thing. Do you find a seat?
I have a Mustang Lowdown solo touring seat. I tried shorter (12") shocks and liked that the biked was lower, but didn't like the ride. Put 13" shocks back on and tried the Lowdown seat - same position front to back, but lower by about 3/4 to 1 inch. Perfect for me at 5'10 with 30" inseam.
If you like the seat but simply want lower, lower the rear. Keep your 13" shocks and use 1" lowering blocks. There's several options. DK Customs and Burly come to mind.
I purchased 2019 Ultra Limited in June. Same issue. I put an iRide by Thundermax on mine. Lowers bike automatically below 13mph then raises it back up while moving. I’m 5’7”. Solved my issue.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I talked to Mustang seats today. I talked to there tech for about 20 minutes. In doing so I realized a friend of mine with an opposite problem had a 2019 Ultra Limited low seat. I borrowed it and made a few measurements after installing on my bike. The HD factory low seat moved me down 1 inch. And moved me forward 1 inch. Snowed here today in Warren Michigan and I might have to wait to try it out. My backrest works with the HD seat. With the mustang I was told I had to buy the Mustang backrest.
My only concern is the forward movement. I will update when weather allows.
I'm 5'8", 30" inseam. On my 2009 Ultra (same frame as yours) I found it's the width that was the issue, not the height. Living in the Metro Detroit area, you have access to a ton of auto upholstery shops that can trim the sides for you. I'll all but guarantee that takes care of the problem for you.
I agree with VistaVett......typically it's NOT THE SEAT HEIGHT......it's the SEAT WIDTH where your thighs touch the seat when you're flat footing at a stop. Have a shop thin down the padding there and your issue might be resolved. I own an Ultra Limited Low but changed out the "Low" seat with a standard seat with thinned down padding at the thighs and it's perfect now. For me the "low" seat was too low, too forward and also crushed "my boys".....LOL (FYI, I'm 5'8" w/29" inseam)
