Default Tire size

Currently running 21" on front and 18 rear on 03 FLHT. What are the implications if I go to a 16 in the rear?
thanks

Nothing. Just get the right size.

All front tires are essentially the same diameter until you get to 21"+ also...why's everyone think the wheel has anything to do with the overall diameter?

You don't say what you ride, unless I missed it. Could be lots of money for what is hidden by saddle bags. The poster above said nothing about running out of headlight adjustment to keep the beam properly aimed. Perhaps he doesn't ride at night.

I'm sure 16" would have been the original rear wheel size on your bike, so just look up the spec for the OEM rear tire size, use that and you'll be OK.

When new your bike had a 16" rear wheel, with IIRC a 130/90 section tyre. I suspect your current 18" rear wheel has a much lower profile tyre? It may be a little larger than a stock tyre, which may affect gearing a little.
