Default Velcro not holding badge on the air cleaner

Hey guys and gals, I have lost 2 103 badges this year, the ones that cover the air cleaner bolt and stick on with Velcro. What the heck am I doing wrong. The first one went using the original Velcro material from Harley. For the second I purchased some heavy duty Velcro that was suppose to hold 10 pounds and that didn't last either. I have the 3rd 103 badge now and can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
Anyone else have this same issue? This $hit is getting expensive for just covering up a dam bolt.
I am thing of going with the one that has the opening for the bolt and does not need to be removed for pulling the air cleaner.

It’s a “time to trade” gimmick H-D uses. They are telling you to get a new bike! The 3M dual lock stuff that toll transponders get stuck to your window with is strong stuff (same as 3M lockit posted above).

That would be very kind of you. I will PM my address to you.
But on this subject, am I the only one having this issue?

If I recall, there's kind of like a "click" when it's seated in the opening properly. It might not actually click, but you can tell when it's not seated versus when it's seated.

Have you replaced the air cleaner side velcro? If the trouser leg has rubbed against it, the velcro may be full of lint and fuzz preventing the new piece of velcro getting in deep enough to hold firmly. Good quality velcro should have a strong adhesive on the back sides. If the air cleaner can is chromed metal, brake cleaner should ease removing the old velcro and de-greasing the surface for good adhesion of the new stuff. When the housing is removed, don't lay the velcro down on a cloth or dirty surface that will get dirt up into the velcro pins. If you remove the emblem when polishing the air cleaner, polishing rag lint and fuzz will easily get stuck down in the nap. Good luck. If it falls offf again, don't replace it until you are ready to sell it. If Harley couldn't do any better than that, why waste any more money ot it?

Yes, I used Velcro that is suppose to hold 10 pounds and the second one flew off. Nothing like lint in the Velcro on the air cleaner itself. I did clean the surface before applying the new Velcro. Sticking to the air cleaner or the badge was not the issue. I may look into the one that has the hole in the end of the badge to access the bolt fastening it to the air cleaner. Then I just need a shiny bolt and I can glue the heck out of the badge.

This is the style that I have lost 2 of.

Have you pushed it on hard? I don't use that setup anymore, but line it up and let it find it's spot, then give it a good push. Should snap in nice. I bet the stuff this guy wants to send you is the same as the factory stuff. Stiff plastic bristly **** on both sides, no fuzzy side like your uncles shoes.

This! It fits in there tight when properly seated. Exam it closely to make sure it isn't bent or distorted, then when you put it on look it over real close at all the edges to see that its bedded in there. At least thats how my stock 103 badge is.
