2004 FLHTPI charging system question....
Hello All,
First let me say thank you to everybody for their help on previous posts, I appreciate your help and knowledge! Working thru some issues on a rebuild of a 2004 FLHTPI and have found that the stator and rotor are bad. Stator is toast and the rotor has 2 loose magnets. While pulling the compensator off, I noticed that there was no washer where the compensator nut contacts the compensator and there were no washers on the inside or outside of the rotor. It had the factory stator and rotor still installed. My question is, did Harley do away with the 3 washers in 2004 or did someone take this apart and forget to put it back together correctly? The new rotor comes with inner / outer washers so I will have them if needed, it is the outer compensator nut washer I am concerned about. My parts book does not have a breakdown for that, only the stator / rotor and does not show an inner or outer washer for the rotor.
Any ideas?

I have an '06,and there is no washer between the nut and the rotor. My manual says to add a few drops of red locktite to the threads,AND to the meeting surface of the nut-for lube during tightening.
