I never rode a bike with a faring and until 4 years ago I never rode one with a windshield. I really like my RK and would never get rid of it but lately I have been thinking about something with a faring for a little more peaceful ride so this thread is very interesting to me.

Why not try a quick detachable Memphis Shades? I have one on and it is so much better than the stock windshield . Best of both worlds. Batwing and RK.

I’d say give the Road Glide a chance. Rent one for a weekend and see how you feel. There’s a reason you see more and more of them on the road. You won’t be sorry.
Good luck

That was my first windshield and my first experience with helmet buffeting. I then changed to a recurve LRS and that helped a lot. I then added a pair of HD fork mounted deflectors and that eliminated most of the buffeting.
I would think that a faring would be a step up from that.
I like taking the shield off in the hot weather with the RK but I’m thinking a bike with a faring would be nice to have also.

The price of the 2018 road glide ultra 22999 is the price of the bike without my trade-in which by the way they only wanna give me $3000 for my 2009 electric glide classic. I’m also looking at a 2017 Road guide ultra that has 20,000 miles on it. The price tag on that bike is 21,000 if they’re willing to give me 4500 for my bike. So I have a couple options.

of course now that I’m very excited about buying a 2018 road guide ultra I’m finding a lot of post concerning the oil pump problem and perhaps even a transmission fluid problem leaking into the primary. I’ll be discussing both of those potential problems with the dealership on Monday. I do have a copy of the service bulletin detail in the sumping problem with the oil pimp. I think as part of the bargaining process I’m going to ask the dealership to put in a corrected or a new oil pump in the road glide ultra before I consider buying it

If that slumping issue concerns you then stay with a 15 or 16 with the 103 engine. I have a friend that is a HD service tech and when I voiced similar concerns his words were until they solve the problem then stay with your 103, they are bullet proof. I will say however that 19’s and later seem to have that problem solved......but then you are talking quite a bit more $
Im sure you can find a 15 or 16 with very low miles for a very reasonable price.

In my neck of the woods that is a good price for sure. From reading the forums regarding sumping issues it seems that the 114s are more susceptible to it than the 107s. There aren't enough of those bikes around my area to know what is up though. Those M8s sure are smooth running though. It seems there's something weird at first with every motor Harley comes out with. I have an 03 Wide Glide and had to rebuild the cam chest area at 39,000 miles several years ago. I've never regretted buying the bike though, it's fun as can be.

I would be tempted to haggle with the dealer on an M8 to see if they could offer any type of extended warranty on it somehow. I don't know if that is possible but there are so many improvements in the chassis, transmission and so on it might be worth pursuing.

With them only giving you $3000, or even the $4500.....I'd keep your '09. JMHO.

Just bring everyone up-to-date I pulled the trigger on a leftover 2019 road glide. I’m in the process of having a tour pack and an ultra seat put on the bike. I have a Cerwin Vega, BT355, infinity speakers, tour pack relocation kit and a few other goodies that I still need to install. Waiting for the dealer to install the tour pack but unfortunately when they ordered one which took four weeks to get in they ordered it in the wrong color so now I continue to wait. Everyone makes mistakes just glad it’s winter time in Rhode Island
