Default Helmet buffeting...possible solution???

I am 6'4" and when wearing a helmet on my 07 Ultra Classic (12" stock windshield) my head get buffetted by the wind. It's like I've got a vibrator attached to my helmet it's so bad.

I've been searching possible solutions from a taller windshield to this product mentioned elsewhere: Micro-Swirl Edging, http://www.saeng.com/4000.htm. I would like to know if anyone on the forum has used this product and if it does indeed do what is advertised: "With up to 5 inches of boost, a softer and dryer wake, V.3 Micro-Swirl edging provides a smoother, quieter and more comfortable environment."

Any comments or other possible solutions to my problem are appreciated.

I had the same problem but I'm much shorter.

First take your left hand while cruising at highway speed and see where the turbulace is coming from. I found a lot coming over the top of the tank. Harley has a fork air dam for $20 that will eliminate that source. Also got rid af a lot of mist to the face in the rain.

I am 6'3" tall and I havea '07 Electra Glide Classic. I had the exact same problem. It vibrated so bad withmy helmet I couldn't even read street signs.

Hard to believe but I cut my windshield and it solved the problem. I took off about two and a half inches and now it is perfect. I did not want to get a taller winshield because it is a pain in the butt looking through them especially in the rain and at night.

Something about the curved design of the stock windshied causes alot of buffeting on taller riders. I cut mine staright off at the top so it is not curved, I actually get better protection from the wind and no buffeting.

I used a dremel tool to cut down the windshield on my Road King but you can also use a jig saw with a fine tooth blade. There's a thread on this forum in the DIY section with step by step instructions on how to cut down your windshield. It's entitled"Cutting A Windshield".

pics of this straight cut windshield avalible? i am 6'4 and have the save issue on interstate travel. almost where my helmet starts dancing back off my forehead and sliding back. Making it tighter doesnt help-just makes it hurt on throat. it starts at about 60mph

When i put a TALL - vented shield (that i bought from someone here) it helps but I dont like looking thru the shield either. I only use that for LONG planned travel. Otherwise , prefer shorter for daily riding

It REALLY does work well. I have one and swear by it. Helmet stays put where it belongs with no turbulance.

Wow. That's an odd looking little gizmo...

Anyone know yet if it helps (or hurts)heat stuff with an'07 FLHR? It might actually help if it re-directs air flow down over the fins.
