I was also concerned about some guy I know nothing about saying I need to ride it before I am sure. I do not want anyone other than me to ride my wife or my bike.
If I ever go back to a cruiser styled bike the RG is the one I want. I rented one for a day and really liked it. I have a friend with a EC which is a great bike but the RG would be the one for me.
It is a tough decision. My .02 is this. The bike you ride the bike you buy and what you want is compleltely up to you. Our thoughts should not interfer with what you want to do. Test riding a new bike always gets me; thats why I have an 07 ultra classic.
Your mind is made ,youve heard some of the good and the bad. Go get your roadglide. I didnt completly hate mine, it was fast as hell , stable at 110 and all. It just wasn't me. If you get a 08, you get black and chrome motor instead of the silver and black wheels. That would make that black rg look so much sweeter. I have that new Harley 9 inch light smoked windshield and a new rubber gasket at a good price if you need it, only on bike 2 days when I pulled it and traded.
I have rode the dragons tail and all through the mountians cause I livea couple of hours ride from deals gapand I can tell you that riding the RG two up load down was still fun...it handles great and the lights are fine..not a issuse at all. I think you get the best of both worlds..great touring bike and great handling..as far as the radio, I can hear my just fine...it's just a great bike all around
The only time the radio on mine is an issue is seek/repeat on a CD, otherwise the fingertip controls are the same as other baggers. The duallies do light the road better then the single+passers. As far as 07 vs. 08, if you haven't had brembos before, you won't miss something you're not used to.
Not only are the dual headlights better than any other setup...but I can also tell you about something completely different that can't even be done with any other Harley.
I replaced my US headlamp assembly with the European version and then changed lamps as well.
It throws a wall of light better than my Avalanche...and *it* has upgraded headlights!
