This weekend I was installing the Harley Cruise control on my EG standard. I was following the instruction that came with the cruise. For the removal of the ignition know that was the wrong thing to do! The 06 **** removes in the locked position where the PRE 2006's come off in the Access position. The 06 will let you take if off in the wrong position and that's where you have a mess. The switch has 2 pieces inside that can be easily misaligned. According to the service manual it takes a special tool to get it all lined back up. Since I didn't have the tool I did it using the shaft fronm the **** I took off. It only took about 2 long hours to do it!
The moral of the story is to follow the service manual on removal of the ignition on the 06's and not the instructions that came with the accessory.
