Hi all. New to the forum, new to Harley, not as new to motorcycles. Nice place yall got here.
So I have worked out a pretty incredible deal with a relative on his 07 Road King. He bought it brand new in 07 and the dealer installed I believe a Stage 2 kit. He drove it for a summer and had problems with it losing power when it got too hot - I believe he said outside temp was above 85. He had it in to a couple shops and they couldnt figure out the problem, had it on the dyno, etc. and no problem to fix. He moved on to a different bike the next summer and its been sitting untouched since 08.
Ive spent some time looking and have concluded that possibly its the parade mode or whatever that is when the back cylinder shuts down but it sounds like thats generally a problem in slower traffic, city driving, etc. His problems were noticed on highways I believe though Ill confirm this for sure. To me it sounds like a fuel delivery issue and perhaps a tune would be in order to match the stage 2 kit?
My plan right now is to fog the cylinders, change all fluids and possibly gaskets that may have dried out from sitting. Put it back together and it should run, then I just have to wait until its good and hot and see what happens. In the mean time hes supposed to be finding any paperwork and invoices he still has and going to bring them when he visits in a couple weeks.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Anyone had anything similar happen and how did you remedy it?
Without knowing the full story, it sounds as if this guy never followed through on his warranty/work from Harley, as it sounds as if they messed it up initially. Why he took it to other “shops” is unknown, and who knows what they did.
That being said your plan sounds good. This sounds more of an improper tune than anything, but I could be wrong.
I have to talk to him and see. I know he had it back into the dealer he bought it from but when they said they werent able to find the problem I believe he tried a couple other places as well. Im hoping he saved all the documentation but well see.

Also, check the mechanical forum, some really good information over there.
