So I’ve been looking at aftermarket windshields for a while, mostly because I know sooner or later something’s going to happen and one of the bolt holes on my OEM one will start cracking. 2014 CVO. Windshields are $125-175 generally.
Got a 12” shield and it is RIGHT ON my eyesight line. Damn. I already took the protective coating off so I can’t even return it. Oh well, I’ll keep it for rain.
Got a 9” (the recommended size for my bike) from Freedom shields. I really like this and rode with it all summer. It rocks!
Weather starts turning colder and I’m looking for something slightly taller that will block more of the cold air. Thinking 10” would work. Not in any hurry, I’ll keep an eye on sales.
Yesterday I got an email from Long Ride Shields about overstock and 50% and more off in stock. Okay, let’s see if there’s something I can use to see if the 10” is what I want it to be. Ultra curve seem to all be $60, so lemme see. Hmmmm, 10” clear, ultra curve. FREE. Huh? Lemme call on this. “I’m sure there are a bazillion imperfections. Doesn’t matter to me, I just want to see if it size is right” Guy says lemme look.
“I just spoke to my manager and he said he threw in a few free ones just to give people an incentive to look twice. I have that windshield in my hand and I cannot see any imperfections at all in it. Oh, free shipping.”
Blink, blink. uhhhhh
“So I’m going to send you an invoice marked paid for $0.00 and this will be in the mail within the next few days.”
I’m sold on Freedom Shields. I had one on my ‘08 CVO Ultra and my ‘14 SGS. I just today ordered a 10” touring width for my 2020 Ultra Limited. (Got my forum discount!).
I love my LRS recurved but I got mine years ago and I believe that the company has been sold since I got mine, not sure that matters or not. When I got mine the owner engrave a personal image in mine at no charge. Not sure if they still do this or not.

I tried a bunch of shields on my bike. Tried three different Long Rides and didn't like any of them, found they had to much wind buffering. One can't remember witch model it was, was so bad it was like riding without a shield. Finely tried a Klock Werks, have never looked back. Should have listen to my buddy right from the start and tried that first.
But hey, you got yours for free, I try anything if its free lol.
I know most don't trust HD and like aftermarket stuff. This one I like the HD wind splitter, because it comes all the way around to the end near your hands, and most dealers have test windshields to try.
