So I have a lowered 2019 Heritage, I am 5’2” 28” inseam. Very short gal. went in somewhere to talk about bagger bags for my bike and the sales guy was steering me towards a road king with air ride instead. I always heard don’t mess with suspension of a road king because they will ride horribly. Thoughts?
You want to buy a pair of bags and the salesman is trying to sell you a bike? Go to a different shop. Maybe find a local independent shop that will work with you.
Sounds like they want to sell you new bike..... you can find bags with google search. If you like your Heritage, I wouldn't trade or sell. Google saddle bags and search away! You can find some decent ones this way. Many options. Unless you have something specific in mind.
I lowered my RKC 1" front and rear years ago. I'm a conservative rider so I didn't notice any drastic differences, with the exception of the occasional floorboard scrape when tight cornering.
Some back-story and just a word of caution regarding the sales guy's approach. I bought my 2012 used in 2012 with 1,0000 miles on it. Turns out a lady about your size bought the bike and had the dealer put on a reduced reach seat, etc and convinced her she'd be OK. She's wasn't and she took a big hit on the trade-in. It's a heavy bike as you know, and being short doesn't help us much in the leverage dept.
Agree with zal, also I would tell the owner, or general manager, that the salesman bothered you so much that they just lost a sale from you in the parts dept and any future dealing from you. Hate pushy sales people.
I don't think many mfg. are making the conversion kits yet for the newer Softails. The brand Tsukayu makes a conversion kit of handbags for your bike here.
HogWorks has them for the '17 and earlier Softails, but you can call them if they have something for the newer bikes. Here is a link to there kit.
