Default It battery time

It’s time for a new battery in the spring. I have used Harley batteries over the years and they are alright. I was wondering what other options are out there. My 2004 Road King usually needs a new battery about every 4 years. What is everyone else out there using ?

I was fortunate enough to work across the street from a Deka dealer.... we had an account there so I could go over and get a Deka battery at a discounted price. Deka does make the Harley batteries, so same thing. Plus I also seem to get around 4 years per battery.....

how long do they last in your bike. I’m curious if 4 years is about the limit.

The batteries I have purchased last 4-5 years. During the off season I pull the batteries out and bring them into the house where I have them on a tender on and off during the winter.

You won’t find a better battery at that price point, IMO

Ride safe!

4 years? I am lucky to get two! My Deka now is only two, and it barely starts my bike after sitting for only 6 days. Once we are going it is ok.

Batteries, like all electronics do not do well in hotter climates.
'Here in southern MI, I use the batteries in our "road bikes" two-full season and then rotate the into the "garage queens" or my generator and order new from Battery Mart.

I keep all of our batteries on "tenders" to help extend their life span(s).

Trying to get an extra season (perhaps) is just not worth the risk of having a failure and with the EFI bikes (an no kick start ability) being stranded in BFE!

JMHO, but I think a battery that is weak or has trouble holding a charge will eventually put more strain on other electronics. In 50+ years of riding many bikes I've only had to have one stator replaced (at 39,000 miles) and one voltage regulator on my '13 CVO Ultra (at 25,000 miles)and I think that was probably due to it being a "carryover" part from the 2012 model year where that had a bunch of V/R's failing on the touring models.

I have an '18 Tri-Glide that will probably get a new battery this spring and IF my wife indicated that she will be riding this season her Heritage will also get one.

U can't beat Battery Mart prices (watch and wait for a sale if U can) and as already stated, they're delivered right to your front door.

I ran a YUASA regular AGM battery in a '96 FLST for 17 years. Only thing I ever did was trickle charge it monthly during the off-season. It finally failed, and I replaced it with identical about 18 months ago. 270 CCA was plenty for the 80"/stock compression and always reliable. I'm sold.
