I wonder just how much wire HD saved by going that route..?
I doubt they saved an inch of wiring, but some of the wiring got much smaller and easier to work with, especially in the handlebar switches.
And on the canbus bikes the harness between the switches and the main harness is easily replaced, connectors at each end instead of hard wired to the switches.
OP: I agree with GearheadMike, get a 14+ bike, the front end is also an improvement, with fatter fork tubes and a beefier steering stem.

although most any brand of aftermarket lifter is bound to be better than the OEM ones
I`m not sure I would say that, there are a $hitload of off brand lifters out there that I wouldn`t trust in a lawnmower...there is some real junk out there, and probably counterfeit parts too...
I would only use real name brand lifters (S&S, Johnson HyLift come to mind) from a known source, not an auction website.

Yeah, I guess I made a mistake by assuming that people would be smart enough not to buy those Brand X lifters.
Currently in the market for a bagger and have narrowed it down to a 2012 or 2013 Street Glide with a 103".
I've been reading a few posts on this valve train noise issue on the 103's.
Can anyone summarize the problem, the fix, and which year 103's are affected?
Have a look around my website, explains a lot about the noise, and the cure

Wonderful! Thanks a lot guys.
I ended up looking at (4) 2013's over the weekend.
I've got the 2013 Limited and for my own reasons stayed away from the Rushmore engines. It is the same as the 2012
but beware they do run hot. I'm in SoCal and added a LeNale engine fan along with oil cooler fans and that has helped
a lot. I also do not my oil / filter changes go past 2k miles. My choice but get two kits as you need 38 oz in the primary
and the fuel treatment really does clean injectors unlike most snake oil -
