Currently in the market for a bagger and have narrowed it down to a 2012 or 2013 Street Glide with a 103".
I've been reading a few posts on this valve train noise issue on the 103's.
Can anyone summarize the problem, the fix, and which year 103's are affected?
I just purchased a 14X with a 103 motor in it. I think my 110 stock was noisy. I dont find the 103 noisy. I like the 103 motor and would not be concerned about it.
I would try to get a Rushmore (14-16) if you can. I have 45,000 miles with zero problems and no noise. Oh wait, one problem, my darn cruise control quit working!
Interesting point on that CAN bus wiring. I would imagine if your software isn't written well it could be a troubleshooting nightmare when trying to isolate an electrical issue. I wonder just how much wire HD saved by going that route..?
Are the 2012's identical to the 2013 in terms of the 103" motor and internal design?
I guess I'm trying to figure out if the 13's are better than the 12's.
